It’s My Birthday!

(and my twin sisters too but still)! So it is October 6th and it is officially my birthday.I am SUPER excited, I don’t think words can describe how psyched I am.tumblr_mekuf1RMDM1r6h22v Sadly, I am not going to be nice and do a giveaway because well, I’m kind of broke and scared of Rafflecopter. I had my birthday party yesterday and it was super fun! Even though it’s only the beginning of October, it was Halloween themed! I am too lazy to write a whole paragraph about what we did but we basically talked, played some games & ate loads of candy. Prepare for the long paragraph of my present haul now:
My friends gave me such unique gifts, they know me so well. I love all my friends equally so maybe I’ll just write what I got from each person in a bullet point list.
  • One of my awesome friends dressed up as me for the party (she had loads of drawn-on freckles and a Doctor Who shirt on) and she got me the complete Harry Potter box set. I am still in awe. My family doesn’t exactly support my love for the books so I’m glad I finally get to own them all due to my fabulous friends. Oh and that friend drew me a picture of her & me, it was so awesome (too lazy to take pics to show you guys)
  • Another one of my friends got me 2 notebooks for writing my favourite quotes in. She wanted to get me only one but she was torn. She also got me Doctor Who buttons (she’s still waiting for them in the mail) and a bookmark with a shirtless guy on it that says “Reading is HOT.” It was extremely hilarious!
  • Two of my friends got me money, which new releases should I get?  (I’m thinking Man Made Boy or Perfect Ruin, decisions, decisions!)
  • Another one of my friends (Kari, we’re doing Neighbouring Opinions together) got me 2 Doctor Who posters, 2 sets of Doctor Who buttons and a mini-TARDIS. She also drew me a custom card, it was awesome. (Some of that stuff is for Karen but she doesn’t actually like Doctor Who so I just sorta took it and gave Karen some of my money, it was a nice trade). Kari also got me a book called "More Badder Grammar" and it's basically a hilarious book that features all sorts of typos. I tend to write a lot of typos but then I turn into the Grammar Police for other people. It's the perfect book for me!
  • My other friend (don’t want to use names!) who also loves books as much as me, got me a cute shoulder purse that has enough room to fit my necessities and a book or two. Very thoughtful of her :)
  • One of my other friends got me some jewellery-a bangle and some earrings. I am still amazed at how she knows I secretly want to start accessorizing.
  • Last but not least, one of my friends got me a really cute bracelet and keychain set that talks about friendship & all that fun stuff (once again, I am allowed to be lazy on my birthday). It was really sweet and she also got me some The Body Shop items, it was awesome.
That’s all I got from my friends. I am literally writing this at 11:55, 5 minutes before my birthday & my friends forced me to open the presents from them while they were there so that’s why I got to post my haul. I am mostly expecting more money (I predict a swarm of new books in my future) and a really comfy & expensive sweater from my mom but if I get anything exciting, I’ll be sure to mention it.
Cue the gifs!  firework  tumblr_inline_msqh00sJ3A1qz4rgp
Thanks for putting up with my fangirling and overall excitement. Don’t forget to also wish Karen a happy birthday! What books/new releases should I spend my money on?  Let me know what you think in the comments! :)

  1. OOH HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHELLY! Awesome gifts <33

  2. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHELLY AND KAREN! Yup, you're totally allowed to be lazy on your birthday, so I'll just settle on those crazy gifs... for now. >:) But awh, you have really wonderful friends, and your party sounds awesome (any Halloween-themed party does, haha). Those presents they got you, especially the HARRY POTTER BOXSET. ASDLIUADIJSCBADQUIWGD

You're one lucky cupcake! I've wanted my own HP boxset for AGES, but it's unbelievably expensive over here, so I've been making do with my well-worn but well-loved ones. They smell really good, though. ;) And wow, I never knew you were a Whovian. Believe it or not, I have actually never watched a single episode of Doctor Who. And before you start berating me, I know I'm missing out terribly, you don't have to rub it in. :P It's just that I never found the time to go watch it, though my friends has a couple of episodes, so I'm planning to borrow them soon-ish. I can imagine how adorable that mini-TARDIS will look, though!

That bookmark = win. That grammar book = double win. It sounds awesome! And haha, you know you're a bookworm when the one condition for a bag is that it MUST be able to fit at least a book, or your Kindle. ;) You have such amazing friends, Shelly!

As for book recs... I'm not sure what you've read, but here are some of my book recs:

    1. This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales
    2. Where the Stars Still Shine by Trish Doller
    3. All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill
    4. Rose Under Fire by Elizabeth Wein
    5. Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo (or the sequel)
    6. Parallel by Lauren Miller
    7. Perfect Ruin by Lauren DeStefano (I haven't read this one yet, but it looks BRILLIANT)
    8. The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider
    9. Dare You To by Katie McGarry

I'm sorry - these aren't very recent releases, but these are the ones I loved to pieces! So yeah, just some recommendations. Whatever you decide to get, I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it! Happy birthday once again, you two. :)

I'd love to read your opinion. Comment away!
