Today I am participating in a blog tour for Dawn of The Apocalypse. This tour is hosted at Itching for Books Blog Tours
Dawn of the Apocalypse Release Date: August 9th 2013

These are just a few of the days humans prophesied as bringing catastrophic events that would end the world. We predicted nuclear warfare. Drastic climate change. A call from God.We were wrong.

Cue the gargoyle invasion—laboratory bred mutants designed to slaughter humans. When the government goes AWOL and gargoyles are swarming by the hundreds, it's up to the citizens of the United States to regroup and save themselves.

Meet Cliff Matthews, a teenage boy separated from his entire family with the exception of his younger sister, whom he is desperate to keep alive. Along the quest to save their lives, he encounters people who aren't all that they seem. Everyday's a battle, but if he can't trust his own species, where does that leave his family?

And we can't forget the man who may be willing to sacrifice Cliff's life, if it means world domination.

In terms of doomsday, no one could've seen this coming. The dawn of the apocalypse…

E.S.P.About the Author

Being the daughter of an accomplished author, E.S.P. grew up listening to stories and telling her own to classmates. After writing for several years and even publishing some short works, she finally decided to take the plunge to write (plus finish!) a full length novel. Thus, Dawn of the Apocalypse was born. When she's not writing, she's either reading books, blogging at, or watching eighties movies.

My Thoughts

I love post-apocalypse books and I seriously adore apocalypses that are man-made (no further spoilers!). This book has every good element to an apocalypse: some (or a lot of) bloodshed, survival, a little romance and a  heart-wrenching ending. Seriously, this book was amazing. Now onto the details. Let's start off with the plot. The apocalypse premise is unique and original. I've read a lot about some sort of technological pulse or disaster that wipes out all technology and humans are left scrambling. Dawn of the Apocalypse had none of those things. This apocalypse is simple as a species attacking the human race. Said species are gargoyle creatures and they certainly sound really interesting. I think that's all I can tell you without revealing any spoilers so let's move on to an equally important topic- the characters. Let's start with Cliff, the main character. First off, let me just say that I liked Cliff. I often hate main characters-they tend to do dumb things- but Cliff was not one of those charactes. He was actually smart and his back story (which you have to read to find out!) was well-written and very interesting. I really enjoyed the story in Cliff's perspective but it was also nice to read about the apocalypse in other point of views.  Another element I enjoyed in Dawn of the Apocalypse was the romance. The romance was pratically non-existant yet it was interesting. Let's leave it at that. Basically, this book was a great read and I definitely recommend it to any post-apocalypse fans like myself.
- Apocalypse is interesting, well-written and unique
- Well-written
- Smart & interesting main character (back story is also sad but captivating)
- Really great ending (I was shocked and I have no idea what direction the series will take-makes me want to read more!)
- Recommend Dawn of the Apocalypse to any post-apocalypse fan
- Point of view changes and is interesting

Favourite Quotes

I love funny quotes or quotes that reveal a big plot point in a book. I decided to include some comical quotes from this book because they really show that the author can find some humour even when writing a gory book. All quotes below did not have me laughing (given the circumstances of the events) but they did a smile to my face.
"Jumping through the air, he tackled Angel to the ground.
With love, of course"
"He pushed Hunter off of him and crept from under the van with quickness that would have shocked his PE teacher. "
"'How about a game of man hunt?'
Regan chuckled. 'There's only one man here.'
'Fine.' Cliff smiled, poitning his gun at Regan. 'I'll be the hunter.'
Regan's smile drained."
"' Well bravo to the boy genius.  If only he could do something besides read maps,' Cliff's brother, Todd said sarcastically as he and his dad clapped in mock applause."
This next quote isn't funny but I really liked it
"They were in the middle of the tunnel. If you looked back, you couldn't see where you've came from. If you looked forward, you couldn't see where you were going. A metaphor for Cliff's life."
