Destined to Kill by Jourdyn Kelly: Book Review

Destined to Kill
*a copy of the book was provided to me by the author for review
Rating: 4/5 stars
Summary (via goodreads): Immortality. Humans would sell their soul for it. Immortals would steal souls to keep it. Infinite life is too seductive and powerful to resist. But, immortality is more like a bad drug habit than a gift. Immortals can't give it up because after living for so long, they don't know how to face death. You see, living forever isn't all it's cracked up to be. Sure, you have your pros, but it's the cons that can make an Immortal wish for a death that will never come.

Anala Geil is a Hunter. She is bound by the rules of the Society. The rules are few, but they are strong. What happens when circumstances force her to break them all?
Review: Although this is a vampire book (and not a genre I usually read), I found this book to be interesting. The characters were well described and interesting. I also liked the strong heroine, Anala. She was described in detail and I actually did not hate her (which is hard for me, I tend to hate most major characters). I also enjoyed the author's interpretation of vampires. Unlike Twilight and other cliche book, the vampires in these stories were unevolved and were described as Cursed (an accurate description in my opinion). Another element I enjoyed was the other main characters, mainly the teenagers. I felt that the other characters seemed realistic in their speech and patterns but Anala (the MC) had a very formal speech pattern but it seems accurate considering her date of birth. The only thing that really stopped me from giving this wonderful book 5 stars is the romance. Although the romance was very well written and somewhat realistic, I felt that it happened to quickly in the story and it seemed very predictable. Other than that, this book was great. I recommend this book to anyone who is tired of vampire cliches and would like to see a fresh interpretation on the subject. Overall, this book was interesting and well written. I am eagerly awaiting the sequel in hopes that it will be even better than this book.
